Productivity Improvement in Piston PO-414

Challenge

The Piston PO-414 is manufactured in our machine shop line no.2 and is supplied to our Customer, Husqvarna, USA who had projected a demand of 10752 Nos. per week, while the current production rate was 5000 Nos. per week. The quantum change (an increase in volume by 115%) in the Customer demand posed a challenge to the company to deliver “on time every time”, defect free products. Therefore Piston PO-414 was selected for productivity improvement project. However we also did PQ analysis for the last six months data.
